Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is causing a massive transformation worldwide: it is not only changing core processes in the automotive, aerospace and construction industries, but is also revolutionizing healthcare and medical technology as well as the food industry.
It is now even possible to "bioprint" human organs or alternative meat substitutes, and with the transition to so-called 4D printing technology, printed objects can change their shape in a controlled manner.
By 2030, strong growth is expected for 3D printing in many attractive future industries - thanks to the efficiency and versatility of 3D printing technology, but also through the increased use of artificial intelligence.
